Can Big Ben Steelers Get Home Win and Cover Spread in Week 8 Divisional Matchup Against Cincinnati?
Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers picked up a huge victory by handing Kansas City their first loss of the season a week ago. Now, the big question surrounding the AFC North Super Bowl hopefuls is whether or not they can stop their ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ act as they head into their Week 8 matchup against AFC North division rival Cincinnati.
Cincinnati Bengals Vs Pittsburgh Steelers Spread & Expert ATS Pick
Cincinnati Bengals (2-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2)
When: Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 4:25 PM ET
Where: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
TV: CBS
Stream: CBS Sports
Spread: Pittsburgh -5.5
Total: 40.5
Why Bet the Cincinnati Bengals Spread at +5.5
The Bengals have won two straight and are well-rested following their bye last weekend. Cincinnati got past a tough Buffalo team 20-16 in Week 5 to cover the spread as a 3-point home favorite as veteran quarterback Andy Dalton passed for 328 yards and one touchdown and the Cincinnati defense limited Buffalo to 82 rushing yards and quarterback Tyrod Taylor to just 166 passing yards. Rookie running back Joe Mixon added 51 rushing yards and one score on 15 carries in the win. Defensively, Cincinnati is limiting the opposition to just 16.6 points per game to rank a stellar second overall, though the Bengals are looking to improve an offense that is putting up just 16.8 points per game (30th).
Why Bet the Pittsburgh Steelers Spread at -5.5
The Steelers have alternated wins and losses over their last five games but managed to bounce back from their shocking 30-9 Week 5 loss against Jacksonville to hand Kansas City their first loss of the season last weekend while covering the spread as a 3.5-point road dog. Ben Roethlisberger had a modest day by passing for 252 yards with one touchdown and one interception but running back Le’Veon Bell has a fantastic 179 rushing yards and one score on 32 carries while wide receiver Antonio Brown caught 10 passes for 155 yards and one touchdown. The Steelers are averaging just 19.7 points per game (22nd) but are limiting the opposition to just 17.0 points per game to rank fourth overall.
Bengals Vs Steelers Expert ATS Pick
The Steelers pulled off a huge upset to hand the unbeaten Chiefs their first loss of the season last weekend, but I like Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals to cover the chalk in this Week 7 AFC North divisional matchup because of their stout defense. Despite their impressive win this past weekend, something still just doesn’t feel quite right about the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger to me this season. Cincinnati is well-rested and this rivalry has seen two of the last three meetings decided by four points or less.
The Bengals are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 5-2 ATS in their L/7 games overall while the Steelers have gone 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight-up win and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS win. Cincinnati has been a bit of a disappointment this season on offense, but first-round draft pick, speedy wide receiver John Ross will be back this week and I think he’s going to make a big difference for Cincy’s passing attack.
The road team in this AFC North divisional rivalry is 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings and again – something just doesn’t feel right about the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger this season despite their big win last weekend.
Pick: Cincinnati +5.5
