Why Bet on the LA Rams to Beat the 49ers
No one predicted that the Rams would be averaging 33.0 points per game after two weeks of play. Especially under the youngest head coach in the league, Sean McVay, who just took over the team a few months ago.
The Rams have the 8th best passing offense in the NFL under McVay. He has given sophomore QB Jared Goff super-juice. Goff has taken great strides after fumbling through his rookie season. His 2017 passer rating of 103.2 is good for 11th best in the NFL.
The resurgence of RB Todd Gurley is also paying dividends. He has rushed for three touchdowns and 236 all-purpose yards so far this season. Last year Gurley finished his sophomore campaign with just 885 yards and six scores while averaging 3.18 yards per tote. But he is back playing like his rookie season when in his first four games as the Rams’ starter (he played sparingly in Week 3 after being medically cleared, then took over the job), Gurley rushed for a total of 566 yards and three touchdowns.
Why Bet on the San Francisco to Beat the Rams
The 49ers are in the top 10 in yards allowed at 299.5 and their yield per snap is an impressive fourth. They are 0-2 because of their offense that has yet to score a TD. All four of kicker Robbie Gould’s field-goals have come from beyond the 30-yard line. This offense can’t even get to the red-zone.
The 49ers are averaging over 100 yards per game on the ground and will be playing in front of a rowdy crowd at Levi’s Stadium. That leaves the Niners woes on the shoulders of QB Brian Hoyer. Last week, he posted a woeful stat line: 15-for-27, 99 yards, and an interception.
There is good news for 49er fans. San Fran is 7-3 SU and ATS at home against the Rams.
