Bold Picks NFL Week 3

The New Orleans Saints will try to find someone – anyone – that can play some competent defense when they visit Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers in Week 3.

Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions will look to remain unbeaten when they host Matt Ryan and the defending NFC champion Atlanta Falcons.

Last but not least, can the Indianapolis Colts hold off a semi-desperate Cleveland Browns team that is looking to bag its first win of the season?

If you’re ready to find out what’s going to go down in all three Week 3 matchups, then let’s get to it gridiron gaming enthusiasts!

New Orleans at Carolina
When: Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina
NFL Odds: Carolina -5.5
Total: 48

Analysis: Look, Carolina didn’t look very good in its 9-3 win over Buffalo in Week 2 after playing so-so football in their 23-3 season-opening win over Frisco, but if you saw the New Orleans Saints and the pitiful way they played defense against New England last weekend, then you should know there’s little to no chance that New Orleans will win outright or cover the spread against Carolina in this Week 3 NFC South divisional battle.

I know the Saints are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings against Cam Newton and company while the underdog in this rivalry is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings, but New Orleans is also 1-4 ATS in their last five games in the month of September while Carolina has gone 4-0 ATS in their last four home games against a team with a losing record. The key trends say the Saints will cover, but the eye test says otherwise.

Bold NFL Week 3 Pick: Carolina -5.5

Atlanta at Detroit
When: Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: Ford Field, Detroit, Michigan
NFL Odds: Detroit +3
Total: 49

Analysis: The Falcons looked a lot better in their 34-23 Week 2 win over Green Bay than they did in their season-opening 23-17 squeaker of a win over Chicago, but I like Detroit to hold it down to get the upset win at home after handling Arizona 35-23 in Week 1 and smacking Eli Manning and the Giants around in their 24-10 win on Monday night. While Atlanta has gone 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against their NFC counterparts, Detroit is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following a straight-up win and 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games. Matthew Stafford and the Lions are the pick for me to get the ATS cover – by winning outright as a 3-point home dog!

Bold NFL Week 3 Pick: Detroit +3

Cleveland at Indianapolis
When: Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM ET
Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
NFL Odds: Cleveland -1
Total: 40.5

Analysis: While the Indianapolis Colts put up a great effort in their heartbreaking 16-13 overtime loss against Arizona this past weekend, I still can’t get past their pitiful 46-9 season-opening loss against the Rams, even though Scott Tolzien will likely never see the field again this season.

While the Cleveland Browns kept shooting themselves in the foot in their 24-10 Week 2 road loss against Baltimore, I’ve been impressed with the effort the Browns have shown ever since the start of the preseason and I believe their hard work is going to pay off in this Week 3 matchup against the Colts. You may not know it, but Cleveland is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five meetings against Indy and a shocking 19-6-1 ATS in their last 26 road games against a team with a losing home record.

With the Colts going 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games in September and just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a losing road record, I’m going to urge you to back the Browns to cover the NFL betting line – by winning outright!

Bold NFL Week 3 Pick: Cleveland -1
