Philadelphia Eagles running back Ryan Mathews suffered a knee injury in Week 11 against the Seattle Seahawks and it is uncertain when he will return to game action this season.

The Eagles announced Mathews would not return for the second half against Seattle.
Mathews Has Battled Injury Bug During Career
Injuries have been a problem throughout Mathews' NFL career. Only once in his first six years did he play a full 16-game season. For fantasy football owners, few running backs were as consistently frustrating as Mathews, who has played well when healthy.
Entering the 2016 season, the 28-year-old averaged 4.5 yards a carry and 63 yards a game while often splitting time in the backfield with another running back.
Ankle stiffness slowed Mathews in Philadelphia's Week 3 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He carried the ball twice for minus-five yards.
Based on his injury record, the Eagles have likely planned for the chance Mathews is forced to miss a stretch of games.
They no longer have DeMarco Murray in the backfield, but Wendell Smallwood and Kenjon Barner have looked good in their limited time on the field and will be needed with Darren Sproles also ruled out for the second half with an injury to his ribs.
Although losing Mathews is bad news for Philadelphia, it's not a debilitating blow to the offense, especially if Carson Wentz continues to exceed expectations at quarterback.
