Week 12 of the NFL season wasn’t the best one in the world of fantasy football.

Brandin Cooks, Antonio Gates, Sterling Shepard and Rob Gronkowski had a grand total of zero catches. Meanwhile, upwards of 20 touchdowns were scored by players without any fantasy relevance, such as Chicago Bears tight end Daniel Brown, San Francisco 49ers tight end Garrett Celek and New York Giants wide receiver Dwayne Harris.

Injuries to players like Gronkowski (back), Jordan Reed (shoulder), T.Y. Hilton (back) and DeVante Parker (back) didn’t make the disappointment of the week any easier to swallow, so hitting the waiver wire is that much more important as we head down the stretch run. You may not find comparable replacements for any of the injured players, but if your season is on the line, grab who you can and hope for the best.

This is the final week of byes with both the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns off, so replacements will be necessary for Marcus Mariota, DeMarco Murray, Rishard Matthews, Delanie Walker and Terrelle Pryor, if we’re just focusing on the obvious fantasy starters. Some of those absences loom large in what may be the final week of the fantasy regular season for some. Colin Kaepernick could be a savior to those who don't have Mariota in Week 13.

Proceed with caution.
